From Citizen Kenya, Muturi re-elected National Assembly Speaker








Justin Muturi has been re-elected National Assembly Speaker in the second round of voting after garnering 220 votes with his only challengers only managing one vote. In the first round of voting, Speaker Muturi failed to garner the two thirds vote needed for an outright win after receiving 217 votes.In his acceptance speech, Muturi promised to enact more compliant Bills to transform the country, insisting that the National Assembly will strive to work with the national government to ensure development in the country.He also congratulated Kitutu Chache North MP Jimmy Angwenyi and Taita Taveta MP Naomi Shaban for being some of the longest serving MPs. “I am deeply honoured by the confidence you’ve bestowed on me. I will protect the Constitution of Kenya and rule of law,” said Muturi.
