Zanzibar arrests 20 over homosexuality

Twenty people have been arrested on Tanzania’s semi-autonomous archipelago of Zanzibar for alleged homosexuality, police said.
The 12 women and eight men were picked up in a hotel where they were receiving training about HIV/AIDS education programmes.
Earlier this year, authorities banned many private health clinics from providing HIV services, saying they encouraged gay sex.
Homosexuality is a crime in Tanzania.
Regional police commander Hassan Ali Nasri said on state television: “They are implicated in homosexuality. We arrested them and are busy interrogating them. The police cannot turn a blind eye to this practice.”
On Friday, Deputy Health Minister Hamisi Kingwangalla vowed in front of parliament to “fight with all our strength against groups supporting homosexuality in our country,” AFP news agency reports.
In July 2016, the government banned the import and sales of sexual lubricants, with Health Minister Ummy Mwalimu saying it encouraged homosexuality which led to the spread of HIV/Aids, AFP added.
Gay male sex is punishable by up to 30 years in jail in the country.
Despite the ban on homosexuality, Tanzania was until recently tolerant toward gay people than many other African countries, but a rise in anti-gay rhetoric by government appears to have led to a spike in discrimination.
In July, human rights group Amnesty International said the authorities were “arresting and prosecuting people on homosexuality-related charges, and subjecting them to forced anal examinations.”

Six ways to keep the fire burning in your relationship

By For Citizen Digital

In a relationship, it is almost guaranteed that the enthusiasm will fade off especially if you lead a ‘normal’ relationship. But don’t worry, there are a few things, actually six things,  you can do to keep the excitement in your relationship long
Friendship first
Before you become lovers, cultivate friendship. This way, it is easier to express yourself. Being free with your soul mate creates a firm bond and as they say, a strong foundation results in a strong building, in this case relationship.
Acknowledge it won’t be a smooth ride
Ups and downs are definitely part of relationships. Understanding and accepting this fact does a great deal because you are able to come up with ways of dealing with fluctuations when they kick in. With this, both of you are able to grow in your relationship when you correct and learn from each other. William Shakespeare said expectation is the root of all heartache. Don’t expect that it’s going to be all perfect instead learn to live with the flaws.
Novelty is key
Paulo Coelho said routine is lethal. Doing the same thing over and over is boring and more harm is that it makes the other party want to explore. If you’re bored, the obvious reaction is to look for excitement. In matters relationships, one may end up finding an alternative spouse. Be creative, come up with new and refreshing ways to enjoy each other’s company.
Allow for ‘lit bulb’ moments
You know when a random idea comes to your mind and you let it pass? That is an ideal idea to make happen. Be spontaneous with your partner, it makes the relationship exciting, especially when it comes as a surprise.
Don’t just tell, show!
‘I love you’ may be very easy to say but it does a great deal if you show your spouse you love them. It is possible to say something you don’t necessarily mean, therefore, go the extra mile.
Vacation
Well, you don’t have to travel to achieve this, but if you can, the better. Spend time just the two of you, outside your normal environment, enjoy each other’s company, rediscover and most importantly, have fun.

We grieve the brutal death of such nice and innocent children who had just reported back to school for the final term of the year,” said the Odinga’s in the statement.
