The Opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) has dismissed Tuesday’s election results released by the electoral commission.
Addressing the press in Nairobi, the NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga accused the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of announcing what he described as “fraud.”
Odinga, who was accompanied by his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka and other NASA leaders, claimed the results being released by the IEBC have been doctored to give the incumbent, President Uhuru Kenyatta of Jubilee, a lead.
According to Odinga, hackers had manipulated the IEBC servers to give President Kenyatta a constant 11 per cent lead over the opposition candidate. Kenyatta was ahead with 7,738,771 (54.41%) votes against his (Odinga’s) 6,360,436 (44.72%) as at 11:25 am, a figure that is less than the 11 per cent claimed by the Opposition.
Odinga, who was also accompanied by Musalia Mudavadi, James Orengo and Johnstone Muthama, further claimed that the alleged fraud extended to results for all other election positions and demanded the cancellation of the entire poll.
Odinga, who further alleged the database for results in several counties had been manipulated, claimed the hacking was facilitated using credentials stolen from the late IEBC IT manager Chris Msando.
The Opposition chief also gave timelines when the alleged hacking of IEBC servers reportedly took place.
On his part, Musyoka called on Kenyans to keep calm as NASA reviews the results.
